The Dollar Steamship Company was founded in 1900 to carry lumber for its owner, the Scottish-American industrialist Robert Dollar. In 1923, he purchased seven ‘President type’ ships from the U.S. Government which enabled him to begin a succcessful round-the-world passenger service. These ships were all named after U.S. presidents. These maps show the various routes.
