The Manipulated Man
First Edition.
22cm x 14cm. 144 pages. Black cloth, silver lettering, pictorial jacket.
One of the leading controversial works of 1970s gender and sexual liberation by Argentine-German medical doctor turned writer Esther Margareta Vilar (1935-), arguing that women are not oppressed, but rather men are trained and exploited by women. Regardless of Vilar’s intentions it has become a main text of antifeminism and other misogynistic movements and as such has been suppressed by many online marketplace platforms, one of the many books caught up in 21st century silent censorship. Originally published in German as Der Dressierte Mann, this is the first edition in English, translated by Eva Borneman.
Minor foxing and tanning. Slight rubbing to jacket. Contemporary price sticker to jacket. Very Good Condition.
